Players who like their shooters quick, repeatable and a little strange will feel at home in Seth. You control Seth himself, mixing ancient Egyptian mythology with science fiction while fighting through runs that change rewards and ability combinations each time.

Built for M-series and runs smooth on a Mac mini M4

  • Built for Apple Silicon, so an M-series Mac is the way to go.
  • Runs comfortably on a Mac mini M4 under macOS Tahoe.
  • Full single-player campaign with different power combinations per run.
  • New abilities appear as you push further into the game.
  • Voice acting is in English; menus come in Russian, English and French.

Performance and feel

Expect a fast, arcade-style pace rather than a slow tactical crawl. The game leans on quick movement, changing rewards and builds that shift from one run to the next. On recent Apple Silicon hardware it holds up well, and the roguelite structure gives you a reason to jump back in after a short session. If you like your Egyptian gods with a sci-fi twist and a lot of retries, this one fits the bill.

You start in a hub of ancient stone and glowing tech

You launch the game and land in a hub area that sets the tone — ancient stone, glowing tech, a sky that doesn't belong to any one era. From there you pick your starting loadout, knowing full well the run ahead will scramble your plans within minutes.

A session usually goes like this:

  1. Pick a starting blessing. The game offers a few — one might boost lightning damage, another might give you a dash with a shorter cooldown. I tend to grab whatever makes me faster.
  2. Clear the first chamber. Apophis' legions rush in. You're strafing, leading shots, switching between a rifle and whatever secondary you found thirty seconds ago. Health drops fast if you stand still.
  3. Hit the reward room. Here you choose between three doors — each one shows a different ability mod or weapon upgrade. One door might turn your shotgun into a scatter of chain lightning; another might double your health but halve your speed. You commit and move on.
  4. Adapt mid-run. Around the third chamber the random challenges kick in. Maybe the floor traps activate faster, maybe enemies explode on death. The build you pictured ten minutes ago is gone, and now you're working with what you actually have.
  5. Die, assess, restart. When a run ends, you're back in the hub. You keep some meta-progress — unlocked abilities, new starting options — and you go again with a different plan.

Tip: Don't get attached to a single power combination. The game rewards flexibility more than loyalty to one build.

Who this clicks with

I picture someone who loved the pace of Doom Eternal but wanted that rhythm broken into shorter, repeatable chunks with a mythological skin on top. Maybe a design freelancer who works in bursts — twenty minutes between client calls, a quick run, a different set of powers each time. The single-player campaign means no queue, no teammates, just you and Seth's chaos toolkit against whatever Apophis throws next. If you've burned through your Steam library and want something that feels fresh without demanding a three-hour commitment, this one earns its spot on your Mac.

Questions from the stall

Does Seth work on Intel Macs?

The build is labeled for ARM architecture, so it is intended for Apple Silicon Macs rather than Intel models.
