Copyright and takedown requests

If you need to report a copyright problem, please send a clear written notice to [email protected]. So I can handle it promptly, your note needs to give me a handful of specific things. I know that can feel formal, but it helps me protect everyone’s rights without back-and-forth guesswork.

  • The exact page address (URL) on soyasoftware.com where the material appears.
  • A description of the copyrighted work you own that you believe is being used without permission—no need for a novel, just enough so I can recognize it.
  • Proof that you own the rights or are authorized to act for the owner. A link to the original work, a registration number, or a short statement on company letterhead usually works well.
  • Your full name, a physical mailing address, a phone number, and an email address so I can reach you if needed.
  • A good-faith statement saying you believe the use is not authorized by the copyright holder, its agent, or the law.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

What happens next

I read every notice personally. I’ll send a brief confirmation, usually within a couple of business days. If the notice is complete and valid, I’ll remove or disable access to the listed material while I look into it. If the program page was contributed by a publisher or developer, I may also share your notice with them so they have the full picture. I know wait times can be frustrating—I run this site alongside my shop, so I appreciate your patience.

Submitting a counter-notice

If you believe material was removed by mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. Include your contact details, identify the material that was taken down and where it used to appear on the site, and add a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed in error. Also confirm that you consent to the jurisdiction of your local federal court and will accept service from the person who filed the original complaint. When I receive a valid counter-notice, I may forward it to the original reporter and, if no further action is taken, restore the material after a reasonable window.

A note on vague or bulk requests

Generic demands that name nothing specific or that list dozens of pages without proper detail are hard to act on fairly. If I can’t match a request to an actual listing, I won’t guess or pull down content on a hunch. I’ll reply and ask for a more targeted notice instead.

Send a copyright notice
