Kismet Studios Ltd, a developer of gaming technology for wireless and internet real-money games, announces the addition of head-to-head gambling engine to its secure gaming platform, the Kismet Gaming System, and the release of its first head-to-head gambling game – Backgammon.

Players can now, for the first time on the internet, gamble on backgammon against live opponents at Kismet’s showcase site Quingo.com.

Online casinos have only offered traditional casino style games, such as Blackjack and Roulette, and limited multi-player games where a number of players sit at a table but play against the house, not against each other. Head-to-head games offer online casino operators an extremely viral addition to their gaming sites while offering players a compelling, new type of online gambling experience.

Kismet is now developing gambling versions of head-to-head board games to be made available through its partner’s sites. Kismet ultimately plans to use the technology to enable head-to-head gambling through third party video games, such as racing, first-person-shooter and sports games.

With the advent of the new head-to-head gaming engine, Kismet is also introducing new features, including “skin” capability which will allow it to customize the look and feel of its games and sites extremely quickly to meet its partner’s needs.

An improved on-line chat now offers emoticons and private chat rooms. Kismet’s next-generation gaming platform, the Kismet Online Casino Singapore Gaming System, supports a variety of game models – including head-to-head play – on a scalable, secure gaming engine.

Manu Gambhir, Managing Director for Kismet Studios, Ltd., commented on the release of Kismet’s new Gaming Platform, “Kismet’s mission is to bring exciting and innovative gaming concepts to the market through our partners. With the completion of our head-to-head gaming engine and recent completion of our wireless gaming engine, we are now aggressively working to develop partnerships with established brands to bring our games to players.”

Gaming Internet/Harrods Partners with MSN.co.uk

PRNewswire — Gaming Internet Plc, the digital media rights and interactive gambling products business, today announces that its joint venture partner Harrods Online Limited has signed a two year marketing agreement with MSN.co.uk, the British arm of Microsoft Corporation’s market leading internet service provider, for an online casino.

The Harrods Casino will be the first online casino and gaming product on MSN’s UK portal and will be available to MSN’s web site users with effect from mid-June 2001.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Harrods online casino will benefit from a fixed link on the MSN.co.uk home page, banner advertising throughout the site and also an exclusive promotional page.

The Harrods Casino business, the 50/50 joint venture between Gaming Internet and Sporting Resorts SA, a subsidiary of Harrods Online Limited, commenced trading on 29th November 2000. Harrods Casino was the first major retail brand in the world to launch an Internet casino.

The joint venture is based on a three year fixed term basis with a rolling twelve-month contract thereafter. Costs and profits associated with Harrods Casino are equally shared by the joint venture partners.

David Sanderson, Chief Executive of Gaming Internet Plc, commented, “The strategy of focussing on established quality brands for our online casino business is key to the success of gambling in a secure and reliable environment.

This has translated into a ground-breaking agreement with MSN.co.uk, now the largest UK portal with an estimated 11 million users per month in creating Britain’s biggest online gaming site. We look forward to working with Harrods and MSN in broadening the reach of a high quality gaming experience over the coming months.”
